Project: Access to Excel to Access. Purpose: This project is to allow a petroleum engineer to read oilfield production data into Excel to interpolate and forecast the data. The current data sets available to petroleum engineers are sparse and difficult to verify. By pulling the data into Excel, Excel can show the data in tabular format and in a semi-log chart simultaneously, quickly revealing errors and anomalies in the dataset Data is then saved back to the Access file in either of two, user selectable, ways, interactively and non-interactively. Interactively the application will prompt the user to update/insert records record by record. Excel was used because engineers are familiar with the application, allowing quicker learning curve. No custom-built equation editor would need to be built had the project been built in a stand-alone Visual Basic or Access system. Database has 3 main tables, 39 fields, 25 megabytes of data, and over 50 queries. My Role: Design and build the database, design data entry schema, built spreadsheet, test on LAN network, and train users and clients. Quick reference and comparisons of blocks and countries is the object of this project, for an in-depth history of the blocks, a hyperlink to a proprietary database is available. Each license has several dollar values, and qualities that on-line users can sort and query. The access database has 6 main tables and multiple records. My Role: Built database, built Access forms, train users, train clients, built Active Server Pages interface for clients. Apps used: Microsoft IIS, Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer Technologies used: VBA- Visual Basic for Applications

Project: Company Directory. Purpose: The Company Directory is for storing names, titles, addresses, web sites, emails, phone numbers, and resumes of various players in the Oil and Gas industry. My part consisted of improving the Access form, splitting the data into multiple tables, and displaying the data online in a query-able, sorted format. Online (see Project IIS) subscribers can sort on last name using a “like” query, and search by country, city and industry, and search by company. Clients can click on emails and web sites. See also Project: on-line.

Project: File Upload Facility. Purpose: To allow sharing of private documents for various clients on-line. The File Upload Facility allows one to upload files to a protected directory that they and others can access over the Internet. When uploading a file, the client must insert name and email. The name and email are used to log the uploading of the file. A dynamic web page is used to download the file, see version, date and person who uploaded it. My Role: Install web server application, act as web server Admin, client subscriber maintenance, train clients, modification of Web server Windows CGI add-on. Apps used: O’Reilly and Associates Website Pro 1.1, Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Visual Basic 4.0, 5.0 Technologies used: Windows CGI framework.
